Praia da Rocha is a beach located in Portimão, in the Algarve region (Portugal). This beach is considered one of the largest beaches in the Algarve, a result of its huge sand area, occupying over 145,000 m², which you can enjoy along 1.5 km of coastline. On one side of the beach you can get a magnificent view over the river Arade and the village of Ferragudo, from the Fortress of Santa Catarina, built in the seventeenth century and very recently enriched with the construction of Portimão marina. The Praia da Rocha name was originated due to the rocks that extend between the sand and the sea. It is one of the most sought after in the Algarve and even of Portugal. Although it is one of the beaches with more sand, this does not prevent each year during the high season of summer, of being packed with tourists from all over the world. In recent times, has received several events, which comprise mainly water sports and also the World Beach Soccer, played in a stadium designed for this type of competition. In the avenue parallel to the beach, there is a wide range of bars, pubs and restaurants that allow tourists to make the most of your holiday during their stay in the Algarve.
