O Barradas restaurant is situated in a converted country farmhouse run by Luís Pequeno and his German wife Andrea. The establishment's delightful outside garden dining area or the covered garden terrace both provide the perfect setting for a sultry evening. Indoors, a cosy fireplace is ideal on those colder nights. Based on traditional Portuguese dishes with a personal contemporary twist and using only the best local ingredients, the restaurant highlights include the traditional baked wild fish, and the excellent Mirandesa, free roaming veal served with homemade fig chutney. The mouth-watering desserts, which can be made gluten-free are inventive takes on traditional Portuguese sweets. Boasting an excellent wine cellar, enthusiast Luís has also realized his dream of making his own vintage, which this year sees its first production.
